Helke Ferrie, a medical science writer and publisher of books on nutritional
and environmental medicine, is well known to Torontonians through her
monthly articles in Vitality Magazine. She is author of Dispatches from the
War Zone of Environmental Health. Her research focuses on the politics of
medicine and how to protect oneself against the failures of regulatory
authorities to make our food and drugs safe. Today, the gravest threat to
human health and survival comes from Global Warming, but inside every threat
is also an opportunity. Helke will show the PBS documentary film Global
Warming which provides the science and the solutions to this threat. Her
lecture, following the film, will discuss how climate change affects human
health and what can reasonably and effectively be done for both people and
the planet.
